Military Discounts in New York

The city that never sleeps has an array of military discounts for active duty, retirees, and military families. Here are a few military discounts in New York for museums, entertainment, and more!

1. 9/11 Memorial Museum

In remembrance of the more than 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum provides stories and education for the events before, during, and after 9/11 that affected our country. In addition, the site also honors the victims of the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The museum tells the stories of New Yorkers and those around the country impacted by the tragic events of that day. Active and retired military members receive free museum admission. The memorial is always free for visitors. Reserve museum tickets online.

2. Empire State Building

View New York from 86 or 102 floors up on the observation decks of the Empire State Building. Stand on the 86th floor to view the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, the Hudson and East Rivers, Times Square, and of course, the Statue of Liberty. There is no better place to see New York in all its grandeur than this 360-degree observation space. Receive $3 off the main deck observation tickets as a military discount. Military members in uniform receive free admission.

3. New York Aquarium

The New York Aquarium allows families to experience sea life in the Big Apple! Check out the 4-D theater, watch the penguin feedings, and gaze upon the sharks, rays, and turtles (temporary exhibit)! Active duty and reserve military members who present their military ID at the entrance gate receive a free General Admission ticket. Discounts also extend to 50% off discount for up to three family members included on the same admissions transaction. Military discounts are not available on fall/winter/spring Fridays after 3:00 p.m. or summer Fridays after 4:00 p.m.

4. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)

As an active military member, you can save money on transportation in NYC! The discount is 25% off the one-way station fare with an active military ID. Tickets can be used at any time on all Metro-North trains and are valid for up to 60 days after the date of purchase.

5. The Bronx Zoo

As the largest metropolitan zoo in the United States, The Bronx Zoo prides itself on honoring military members! The zoo offers discounts to U.S. active duty or reserve members of who present a valid military ID at the admissions gate. Each active or reserve member will receive a free Total Experience Ticket or General Admission ticket and 50% off discount for up to three family members included on the same admissions transaction. Because Wednesdays are free general admission for the community to the zoo, military discounts are not applicable on that day.

6. Carnegie Hall

The world-renowned Carnegie Hall showcases musical talents from classical to jazz, strings to singers. Hear the New York Pops, legendary pianists, and more. See the stages once graced by Leonard Bernstein, Yo-Yo Ma, and many more. US active duty and military veterans save 30% on tickets to Carnegie Hall presentations (excluding galas and Weill Music Institute events) by presenting an active military ID or form at the box office. There is a two-ticket limit per person.

There are endless things to do in New York. Check your local military ticket office for discounts on Broadway or off-broadway shows (which vary but can be available from time to time) and other attractions. Hotels often offer military discounts in NYC. Just ask while booking! These military discounts in New York will be perfect for your next trip to the city!
