Looking for a fun and unique breakfast that everyone in your family will love? This Croissant French Toast is just waiting for you to make it!

I am always looking for new ways to fix regular, everyday recipes for my kids. I do my best in presenting a variety to my kids, but sometimes it’s just easier to pull out a Lunchable and call it a day. When we were kids, we grew tired of the same old bologna sandwiches, soup from a can or cereal for breakfast.

Our kids are no different. It wasn’t until I became a parent that I understood how exhausting being a mom is. Sometimes growing up I would be served the same meals throughout the week and I quickly grew tired of eating the same things again, and again.

What if we take that same recipe our kids have eaten a hundred times and learn how to “kick it up a notch,” that’s all it takes to bring the excitement back! So that is what I created with this delicious and yummy recipe!

I haven’t met a child (or adult) yet that doesn’t have an enticing affection to french toast. My husband loves french toast as much as my boys. If your family feels the same about french toast, you won’t want to miss out on this delightful treat. If you are looking for a delicious recipe to treat your family this weekend, this is the one! Warm and savory, this recipe takes French Toast to a whole ‘nother level. Once you try this new twist on french toast, I can pretty much guarantee you’ll never make French Toast the same again!

Can you use unbaked croissants for this breakfast recipe?

Great question. If you are feeling ambitious, go for it! I tend to like my mornings to be a bit more relaxed, so this is why I use the store bought ones whenever I make this recipe. Plus, they aren’t as fresh and tend to hold up just a bit better that way. Keep in mind that if you do make your own croissants from scratch (or dough that you are going to bake), you’ll need to cook them and let them cool before moving on with the recipe.

What toppings would you add to your croissant french toast?

Is that even a question? All the toppings! But in all seriousness, you can add so many things. Fresh strawberries and blueberries are a great way to add a bit of nutrition that is probably needed and welcomed by your body. But if you want to make this dish even tastier, you can add syrup, whipped cream, crushed nuts, mini chocolate chips and even some powder sugar all over the top.

Is your mouth watering yet?

Can you use coconut oil to cook the croissants in rather than butter?

Sure! What you choose to fry up the bread in is up to you. We choose butter for this dish because we typically add butter to our pancakes and french toast anyways, but if you like the taste and the flavor of coconut oil, go for it! It might actually even be a really great addition and add another layer of awesome taste and flavor to this dish!

Ingredients:

  • 5 Croissants
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoon heavy cream or milk, optional
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon, optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-2 Tablespoons butter, for frying

Directions:

Slice your croissants in half to turn each croissant into two slices.

Beat together the eggs, cream, cinnamon and vanilla.

Place 1 Tablespoon of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Dip the croissants one at a time into the egg mixture, flipping with a spoon or fork to coat.

Once the pan is heated, add two to three croissants to the pan (avoiding overcrowding) and cook until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown, approximately 2 minutes per side.

Serve warm.

And just like that, you’ve created a recipe that your family is going to beg for you to make all. the. time. Make it a weekend treat, a special occasion or just a fun thing to wake them up to sometimes.

No matter when, where or why you decide to whip up a batch of this delicious breakfast recipe, you’ll be so happy you did. There’s truly nothing like the taste of a croissant that then actually tastes like french toast. Even your taste buds will be doing a double take trying to figure out exactly what magic just happened.
